Difficulty: Moderate • Est. Cost: $0 (lint clean) — $30–$80 for heating element or NTC sensor • Time: 30–60 min
Safety Warning: Prioritize safety: always unplug your dryer from the wall outlet and shut off related water or gas valves before removing access panels.
Empty Water Tank & Clean Filters
Heat pump dryers won't heat if the water tank is full.
- Fluff in the double-door filter restricts airflow, causing the machine to blow cold.
- Use a vacuum to clean the cavity below the door filter.
Clean the Base Unit (Condenser) Filter
Locate the flap at the bottom left of the machine.
- Remove the foam filter mesh and wash it under a tap. Let it dry completely.
- If this filter is blocked with lint, the heat pump compressor will overheat and shut off.
Moisture Sensor Checking
The two metal strips inside the drum (near the door) are moisture sensors.
- If they are coated in fabric softener or limescale, the dryer thinks the clothes are already dry.
- Wipe them down firmly with white vinegar or rubbing alcohol.
